Sintering of carbon, alloy, stainless steel powder metal materials can be performed in batch vacuum furnaces and in continuous hydrogen atmosphere belt furnaces, depending in part size, materials, and geometry.  Hydrogen is sometimes beneficial for cleaning the high effective surface area of powder compacts.  Multiple atmosphere zones are sometimes beneficial for lubricant removal prior to sintering.
