Glass bead finishing uses a mixture of ceramic beads to clean the surface of heat treated parts.  The ceramic abrasive used will typically provide a dull metallic finish depending on the part material.  Glass beading is commonly used for parts requiring a somewhat delicate cleaning, or for stainless steel parts which should not be subjected to steel shot containing iron.  Glass beading is used for surface cleanliness on bearings, stainless steel castings, machined and screw machine parts, and some fasteners.
